Shark bite reported near Fernandina Beach, 1 taken to hospital

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said Friday afternoon that a man in his 40s has sustained a shark bite and has been taken to the hospital.
The incident happened near WestRock in Fernandina Beach. The sheriff’s office said the man’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
On June 13, 2021, a 13-year-old child was bitten by a shark at Seaside Park, the Fernandina Beach Fire Department said. A 17-year-old male and a 30-year-old man were bitten by sharks in Fernandina Beach’s Seaside Park in July 2018.
OCEARCH‘s last ping of a shark was a 1,437 pound white shark named Breton June 7 off the South Carolina coast, but none in the immediate area. He was located near the First Coast in December.
