DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash after he stopped to help a driver involved in a previous crash, and who also died, early Saturday on Interstate 10 west of McDuff Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said around 2 a.m., a 31-year-old man driving an SUV veered off the lane and ended up crashing into the concrete barrier wall on the left shoulder. Then, the SUV overturned into the center lane of the interstate and crashed again into the concrete barrier wall.

The 31-year-old driver died at the scene, according to FHP.

Then, around 2:09 a.m., a good Samaritan stopped to help the man involved in the previous crash, and when he got out of his car, he was struck by another car.

That car then crashed into the concrete barrier walls on both the right and left shoulders, according to FHP.

Troopers said after the crash, the driver got out of his car and ran away from the scene.

The good Samaritan, a 23-year-old man from Jacksonville, died at the scene, according to FHP.
