In an hours-long pre-trial hearing last week, those close to Gardner testified the kids she shared with Jared Bridegan want to see her.

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE: Judge London Kite has denied Gardner’s motion for bond.

Shanna Gardner, the woman at the center of what prosecutors have called a “murder-for-hire” plot to kill her ex-husband and father of her two children, Jared Bridegan, returns back to Duval County court Friday afternoon.

Gardner, 37, is being held on first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges. Her second husband, Mario Fernandez-Saldana, is also facing a first-degree murder charge related to Bridegan’s killing.

In a 1 p.m. case management hearing, Judge London Kite could grant bond for Gardner. In an hours-long pre-trial hearing last week, those close to Gardner testified the kids she shared with Bridegan want to see her. The defense is arguing statements made by the prosecution are hearsay.

Those statements include claims that Gardner benefited the most from her ex-husband’s death, allowing her to gain custody of the kids and to fully inherit her trust. The prosecution also revealed text messages going back as far as 2015 between Gardner and a close friend, discussing “funeral potatoes” and finding someone to do “magic” and “make someone disappear.”

The information has been in the hands of Kite to make a decision of whether or not to grant Gardner bond.
