JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 73-year-old man was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter in a multi-vehicle crash on Southside Boulevard near Beach Boulevard that left a husband and wife dead in 2022.

Thomas Dukes was recently arrested.

A Cadillac CTS was stopped on the Southside Boulevard exit ramp at the light on Beach Boulevard on November 4, 2022, around 9:15 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 49-year-old husband and his 51-year-old wife were waiting on a motorcycle at the light behind the Cadillac.

Dukes was driving a Nissan Sentra when he slammed into the back of the motorcycle, sending the bike into the Cadillac’s rear.

The husband died at the hospital, and his wife was in critical condition but died days later.

Dukes and the Cadillac driver were uninjured, according to FHP.

Dukes faces two counts of DUI manslaughter. News4JAX will request the arrest report once it’s available.
