Jacksonville sheriff’s officers were dispatched to a pond near 10600 Old St. Augustine Road and do not suspect foul play.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a woman is dead after drowning in a Mandarin pond.
Around 7:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a pond near 10600 Old St. Augustine Road. The victim was recovered and was pronounced dead after what appears to be an accidental drowning, police said. Foul play is not suspected.
Homicide and crime scene investors were on scene and the victim, described by JSO as older in her age range, has not been identified, police said.
With weather conditions, officers are unsure how long the victim was in the water. Police said the pond had a gate but there was an opening.
