Mickler’s Landing parking and beach access will close from June 13 – June 21, and then again from June 24 – June 28.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Mickler’s Landing is temporarily closing again this week in an effort to accelerate the Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project.

Parking and beach access will close at Mickler’s Landing from Thursday through Friday, June 21, and then again from Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28.

Despite the upcoming closures, the restoration project is months ahead of schedule.

According to a news release from St. Johns County, the project was originally set to finish around mid-August, but due to the “tireless work of Weeks Marine and county staff,” it is about two months ahead of schedule.

The Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project aims to improve the coastline by fixing storm-damaged dunes and berms and increasing the beach width.

The project will stretch from the St. Johns-Duval County line to the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserves. According to St. Johns County, the distance is about nine miles of coastline.

County commissioners unanimously voted to spend nearly $38.6 million on restoring the beaches.

The county said the project’s accelerated timeline means residents will be able to enjoy the beach during the summer.
